Genesee Gets Road Win at Niagara

SANBORN, NY – The Genesee Community College softball team earned a 12-8 victory over NJCAA Region III and Western New York Athletic Conference foe Niagara County Community College Tuesday afternoon.

Genesee struck first in the top of the first to get the early jump on the Thunderwolves Tuesday afternoon.  Erin Capotelli drove in four runs to help power the Cougars offense. Jaclyn Guzdek also drove in four runs. Taylor Stefaniak hit a home run. Kennedy Lampart drove in two runs. Genesee drove in five runs in the top of the third to regain the lead, which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.

Emily Kams threw a complete game, striking out five to earn the win, her fifth of the season.

Game two of the doubleheader was postponed due to poor field conditions.  

The Cougars stand at 7-10 on the season and 2-3 in Western New York Athletic Conference play, and 6-3 in NJCAA Region III competition.  Genesee is on the road Thursday afternoon for a doubleheader at Monroe Community College. First pitch from Henrietta, NY is scheduled for 3pm.
