Red Barons Take Down Niagara In POD Play

The Corning Red Barons traveled to SUNY Broome for another pod tournament on Saturday, October 7th. Corning split the day with a loss against Erie CC and a win versus Niagara CC.

Corning struggled against Erie in 3 sets, with team totals of 6 kills, 6 assists, 2 aces, 17 digs, and 1 solo block. In the second match of the day versus Niagara, Corning showed up on both offense and defense.

Starting with a lead and taking the first 2 sets, Corning rallied to beat Niagara 15-8 in the 5th set. Rai Fuller led the offense with 8 kills, followed by Riley Sargent and Tae Dukes who tied at 7 kills each. Riley Sargent and Tae Dukes additionally tied with 2 solo blocks and 1 block assist each. Hannah Robbins controlled the service line with a season-high 5 aces. Cady Hill contributed 15 digs, followed by Rai Fuller with 14 digs. Macey Page ran the offense with 27 assists in the match.

Next up the Red Barons will play Fulton-Montgomery and Jefferson Community College on the road, on October 14th.
