NCCC takes two at Corning CC

Niagara County Community College won a pair of tight Region III ballgames on Saturday afternoon at Corning CC's new turf complex. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, are now 28-4 overall and 14-0 in regional play.

Niagara CCC 11, Corning CC 5 (8 inn.)

Freshman Nate Chase was 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the T-Wolves exploded for six runs in the top of the eighth inning. Freshmen Brandon Nicholson and Julian Placencia added two hits and two RBIs apiece, while freshman lefty Michael Eagler moved to 3-0 on the year after tossing one inning of scoreless relief.

Niagara CCC 7, Corning CC 3

Freshman David Lyskawa earned his second win of the season after throwing six solid innings. The southpaw allowed just four hits and two earned runs, while striking out eight. Chase was again 3-for-4 with an RBI, while freshman Hayden Ewell clubbed a two-run home run. Sophomore Michael Colosi added a two-run double. 

Next up is a home doubleheader with the Red Barons. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
