NCCC earns sweep on final day in Florida

Niagara County Community College picked up its second consecutive sweep, knocking off Minnesota State Community & Technical College at the Lake Myrtle Complex Tuesday afternoon. NCCC concludes its Florida trip with an 8-4 mark.

Niagara CCC 7, MSCTC 1

Freshman Christian Young improved to 2-0 on the season after tossing six solid innings. The right-hander allowed just one hit and struck out 13. Classmate Michael Eagler struck out two in a scoreless seventh inning. Offensively, freshman shortstop Brandon Nicholson had a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Freshman outfielder Zarley Cina clubbed three hits and sophomores Charles Edwards and Michael Colosi each had two hits and an RBI.

Niagara CCC 7, MSCTC 0

Sophomore Alex Kubera threw five scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the season. He allowed just two hits and struck out five. Freshmen David Lyskawa and Ryan Green each tossed a scoreless inning of relief. Colosi led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while freshman infielder Kyle Waple had two hits, two runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI. Classmates Julian Placencia and Nate Chase each contributed two hits and an RBI in the win.

Next up is a trip to CCBC Essex. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. April 1.
