Cross named Gold Glove winner

Niagara County Community College freshman third baseman Matt Cross was selected to the 2017 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Div. III Gold Glove team on Wednesday. Cross is the fifth NCCC player during head coach Matt Clingersmith's tenure to earn this distinction, joining Sean Jamieson (2009), Calvin Sluberski (2012), Chris Beer (2014) and Michael Colosi (2016).

Cross, who also spent time at catcher and first base throughout the spring, finished the year with a .967 fielding percentage. He also amassed a .340 batting average with 53 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He was an All-Tournament selection at last month's NJCAA Division III World Series after helping the Thunderwolves to a runner-up finish.
