Three Wolves make 1st team All-Region

Niagara County Community College had five players recently named All-Region after a vote of Region III coaches. Sophomores Joe Kruszka and Matt Cross along with freshman Vincent Chiarenza were first teamers. Sophomore Jarod Burmaster and freshman Garrett Boldt were second-team picks.

Kruszka, the Thunderwolves' right-handed closer, was 5-0 with seven saves, a 1.37 ERA, 52 strikeouts and 17.77 Ks/9 innings. Cross, a catcher, hit .382 with 52 hits, 41 runs, eight doubles, seven home runs, 44 RBIs and a .610 slugging percentage. Chiarenza, a first baseman, hit .415 with 56 hits, 46 runs, nine doubles, nine home runs, 53 RBIs and a .711 slugging percentage.

Burmaster, a right-handed starter, was 6-0 with a 2.54 ERA and 60 Ks over 49.2 innings pitched. Boldt, a speedy outfielder, hit .438 with 57 hits, 48 runs, 14 doubles, 44 RBIs, 34 stolen bases and .623 slugging percentage.

Chiarenza and Boldt were named to the regional Gold Glove team as well. Chiarenza had a .983 fielding percentage, while Boldt was at .978.
