Thunderwolves take 3 of 4 games from JCC

Niagara County Community College won three of four Region III Western Division games against Jamestown CCC this past week. The Thunderwolves, who are ranked No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, improved to 21-4 overall and 9-2 in regional play. Next up is a four-game set with Tompkins-Cortland CC.

Jamestown CC 8, Niagara CCC 7

Freshmen Matt Kruszka and Garrett Boldt each had two hits and an RBI in the extra-inning setback.

Niagara CCC 10, Jamestown CC 0

Freshman Louis Destino tossed a two-hit shutout. Classmate Joe Barberio belted a solo home run, first-year infielder John Genau was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored and Boldt added three RBIs.

Niagara CCC 15, Jamestown CC 6

Sophomore Matt Cross finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored in the win. Boldt and sophomore Noah Thompson each had two hits and two RBIs, while sophomore right-hander Jarod Burmaster improved to 3-0 on the year after allowing just two earned runs with seven Ks in six innings of work.

Niagara CCC 8, Jamestown CC 2

Sophomore C.J. Gonzales picked up his second win of the year after throwing 6.2 innings. He allowed four hits, one earned run and struck out four. Genau was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while freshman William Lawrence added two doubles and an RBI.
