Niagara County Community College swept visiting Onondaga CC in a critical Region III Western Division doubleheader on Tuesday. The Thunderwolves, are are No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, improved to 26-4 overall and 14-2 in regional play. NCCC visits the Lazers for a double dip starting at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Sophomore right-hander Jarod Burmaster allowed just one hits and struck out four in six innings of work. Classmate Joe Kruszka shut the door with a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Sophomore Casey Gruarin had a triple in the win.

Freshman Vincent Chiarenza clubbed a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Chiarenza finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Freshman Garrett Boldt and Gruarin each had two hits. Kruszka threw two innings of scoreless relief.
