NCCC wins three games vs. Panthers

Niagara County Community College won all three games against Tompkins-Cortland CC this past weekend. The fourth game was cancelled due to rain. NCCC, which is ranked No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, is now 24-4 overall and 12-2 in Region III Western Division play. Next up is a four-game set with Onondaga CC.

Niagara CCC 8, Tompkins-Cortland CC 3

Sophomore Jacob Lewis improved to 4-0 on the year after throwing six solid innings. The right-hander struck out seven and allowed just six hits and two earned runs. Freshman Joe Barberio was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and sophomore Casey Gruarin finished 2-for-2 with three runs scored.

Niagara CCC 20, Tompkins-Cortland CC 2

Sophomore Noah Thompson finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the offense. Garrett Boldt, Matt Cross, Matt Kruszka, Vincent Chiarenza, Michael O'Connor, John Genau, Gruarin and Barberio each had two RBIs in the win.

Niagara CCC 10, Tompkins-Cortland CC 0

Freshman Louis Destino allowed just four hits in four shutout innings to earn his second straight win. Boldt, Gruarin and Chiarenza each had two RBIs for NCCC.
