Gruarin, Gillis earned SUNY Chancellor Awards

Niagara County Community College sophomore baseball players Casey Gruarin and Trace Gillis were recently honored with the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. The duo was presented with their medallions during SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson's visit on Tuesday at NCCC's Sanborn campus.

This spring, Gruarin hit .309 with 42 hits, five doubles, five triples, two home runs, 25 RBIs and 48 runs scored. The outfielder boasted a 3.90 GPA and recently graduated with an A.S. Sport Management. He plans to attend NCAA Div. III SUNY Cortland.

Gillis, meanwhile, went 1-0 with 14 strikeouts in eight appearances on the mound. The southpaw had a 3.88 GPA and recently graduated with an A.S. Public Communication. He has signed with NCAA Div. II Cedarville University.
