SUNY Niagara scores 29 runs in sweep of FLCC

SUNY Niagara ripped 29 hits and scored 29 runs in a convincing Region III sweep of visiting Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday afternoon at Sal Maglie Stadium. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 38-8 overall and 22-2 in Western Division action. The T-Wolves return to action at 2 p.m. Thursday for another home regional twinbill vs. Onondaga Community College.

SUNY Niagara 14, Finger Lakes CC 2 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Joshua Milleville moved to 7-0 on the year as the righty allowed just three hits and struck out four batters in five innings of work. At the dish, freshman Braden Hill was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, sophomore Steven Merkel went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored and sophomore Owen Silliman finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored three times. Also for the royal and gold, the freshman tandem of Keygan Miksa and Nigel Sebastianelli each had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored and freshman Braeden Dyck added a two-run double.

SUNY Niagara 15, Finger Lakes CC 4 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Zachary Fike improved to 4-0 on the bump as he struck out five batters in five innings of work. Freshman Gavyn Boyle went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the offense. Sebastianelli was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored, sophomore Nicholas Schulz clubbed two doubles for two RBIs and the duo of Silliman and Merkel had two hits and two RBIs apiece.
