Thunderwolves win three tournaments

After a few close calls to start the season, Niagara County Community College broke through with three team victories this past weekend in Region III tournament play.

Mohawk Valley CC Tournament

Freshman Cam Eddy led the way with a 6-over par 77 as the Thunderwolves won with 311 total strokes at the Oneida Community Golf Club. Classmate Zach Fronckowiak shot 78 along with sophomores Stone Skeeter and Matt Bourque. Freshman Brian Ailinger carded an 80 and fellow first-year player Shane Helbig had an 83. Freshman Vinny Falvo shot an 80 in individual action. 

SUNY Adirondack Tournament

Helbig finished in a tie for 1st after firing an even-par 72 at Hiland Park Country Club. Helbig lost out to Mohawk Valley CC's Dante Migliore on a match of cards for medalist honors. NCCC finished with 305 total strokes. Eddy shot 74, Fronckowiak had a 79, Ailinger carded an 80, Skeeter had an 81 and Bourque added an 82.

Jefferson CC Tournament

Helbig shot four-over par 76 to lift the T-Wolves (309 total strokes) to the win at the Watertown Golf Club. Eddy and Bourque each fired a 77, Skeeter had a 79, Fronckowiak shot 80 and Ailinger added an 82.

Next up for NCCC is a trio of local tournaments, including its own event slated for Saturday at Willowbrook Golf Course.
