NCCC wins two events on opening weekend

Niagara County Community College opened the 2018 spring season with a pair of victories this past weekend. The reigning Region III runners-up won both the Cayuga CC & Onondaga CC Invitationals. NCCC was also third at the Tompkins-Cortland CC event. Next up on the schedule is a pair regional tournaments at Mohawk Valley CC (April 20) and SUNY Adirondack (April 21).

Cayuga CC Invitational

NCCC finished with 318 total strokes - 26 better than its closest competitor. Sophomore Cam Eddy and freshman Hogan Lang tied for first with 78 at Highland Park. The duo lost on a match of cards. Sophomore Vinny Falvo and freshman Ben Kolbe tied for fifth at 81, while sophomore Zach Fronckowiak carded an 86. 

Onondaga CC Invitational

The Thunderwolves bested the field with 322 strokes at Timber Banks. Falvo was second with a 76, followed by Kolbe who finished seventh with a 79. Lang shot 83, sophomore Brian Ailinger had an 84 and Fronckowiak chipped in with an 85.

Tompkins-Cortland CC Invitational

The T-Wolves came in third place with 317 total strokes at Elm Tree. Kolbe took a team-high sixth place with a 76. Falvo fired a 79, Ailinger and Fronckowiak each shot 81 and Eddy was next with an 82.
