NCCC takes first at Cayuga

Niagara County Community College opened up the Region III golf season with a win and two runner-up finishes this past weekend. The Thunderwolves, who have a full roster of seven male golfers, return to the links on Friday and Saturday for pre-Easter action hosted by Mohawk Valley CC and Herkimer College.

Cayuga CC Invitational

NCCC shot 356 as it edged out the host Spartans by six shots at Highland Park Golf Club. Sophomore Ben Kolbe led the T-Wolves with an 85 (4th), followed by classmates Hogan Lang (88, 7th) and Rich O'Connell (90).

Onondaga CC Invitational

The Thunderwolves accumulated 330 strokes at Timber Banks Golf Club en route to a second-place finish behind Cayuga CC. Freshmen Carl Graff and Murphy Lang each carded an 81 to tie for sixth-place individually, while Kolbe fired an 83.

TC3 Invitational

The T'Wolves' team score of 313 strokes was one back of the victorious Spartans at Elm Tree Golf Course. Hogan Lang was tied for second after ripping off a two-over-par 72, while Murphy Lang shot 75 (T-4th) and Kolbe added a 79.

*Freshman Emily Neidrauer competed in all three tournaments as the lone member of NCCC's re-instated women's golf program. She was third among female competitors at both the Cayuga and Onondaga tournaments before shooting a career-best 105 to take 2nd at the TC3 event.
