SUNY Niagara wins home tourney again

SUNY Niagara won its home tournament for the eighth consecutive season to highlight another strong weekend on the links. The Thunderwolves have now won five of the six events they have entered this spring. Next up is another trip to Central New York for a trio of Region III Invitationals next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Jamestown CC Invitational

The T-Wolves had just 312 total strokes, but lost out to Jefferson Community College by one shot in the team scoring at Chautauqua Golf Club's Lake Course. Freshman Adam Firkins shot a one-over-par 73 to earn his first medalist honors of the season. Classmate Eliel Rodriguez tied for third place with a 77, while fellow frosh Charlie Nuttle carded a season-low 80. Freshman Teddy Swiech added an 82 and freshman Ryan Kates had an 83.

SUNY Niagara Invitational

The T-Wolves continued their dominance at their home event, finishing with 327 total strokes - 10 clear of runner-up Jefferson Community College - at a rain-soaked Willowbrook Golf Course. Firkins was medalist for the second straight day, firing a six-over-par 78. Kates tied for second with an 80, while Rodriguez had an 84 and Nuttle chipped in with an 85.
