Niagara County Community College kicked off its season with two quality victories at this past weekend's Montgomery College Tip-Off Tournament. NCCC is now 2-0 overall with its home opener slated for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday vs. Finger Lakes CC.
Niagara CCC 86, Pitt CC 63
The Thunderwolves shot a blistering 46 percent from the field en route to the blowout win. Freshmanwing Donel Cathcart had 20 points, while sophomore guard Jamal Pollydore added 18 points and six rebounds. Classmate Elijah Davy filled the stat sheet with eight points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals.
Niagara CCC 98, Patrick Henry CC 85 (OT)
NCCC out-scored the Patriots 20-7 in the five-minute overtime session. Cathcart finished with a game-high 29 points, including seven 3-pointers. He also had nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. Pollydore netted 27 points to go with five boards and three assists. Freshman guard LaTerrance Reed added 18 points off the bench.
