Pollydore named POY; Beilein earns COY

Niagara County Community College sophomore Jamal Pollydore was named the Region III Division II Player of the Year this past weekend. The first-team All-Region guard averaged 16.9 points per game on 48 percent shooting. He also shot an eye-popping 44 percent from 3-point range. 

Freshman guard Donel Cathcart was a second-team selection after averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. Sophomore forward Fausto Pichardo made the third team after averaging 8.1 points and 6.7 boards per night.

Head coach Bill Beilein was honored as the Region III Division II Coach of the Year after directing the Thunderwolves to their first conference and regional championship since 1979. Beilein has racked up 154 wins, including five 20-win seasons, in his eight years at NCCC.
