Niagara County Community College closed out the first semeswter with a pair of big wins at this past weekend's Thunderwolves Classic sponsored by Smokin Joe's Native Center. NCCC, ranked No. 14 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, is 11-2 overall. Next up is a road game at Mercer County CC on. Jan. 7.
Niagara CCC 107, Isaiah Christopher Academy 59
Freshman guard Donel Cathcart had a game-high 17 points as six Thunderwolves scored in double figures. NCCC out-scored the guests, 50-19, following intermission. Sophomore forward Fausto Pichardo recorded 13 points and six rebounds in just eight minutes of play, while classmate Kofi Mills finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Niagara CCC 91, Onondaga CC 71
Cathcart canned five 3-pointers on his way to 24 points as NCCC knocked off the previously-unbeaten Lazers. Sophomore guard Jamal Pollydore had 20 points and freshman guard LaTerrance Reed added 17 points.
