Thunderwolves best ECC in regular-season finale

Niagara County Community College shot nearly 48 percent as it knocked off rival Erie Community College, 87-83, in a Region III road contest on Wednesday night. The Thunderwolves finished the regular season with a 20-9 overall and 9-6 mark in regional play.

Sophomore standout Donel Cathcart had 30 points and 10 rebounds to lead the T-Wolves. Freshman Dytanya Mixson had a career-high 21 points, while sophomore point guard Laterrance Reed finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Freshman reserve guard Mike Evans added 11 points and eight boards.

Next up for fourth-seeded NCCC is the annual Region III/District II Division II Tournament. The event kicks off with a quarterfinal contest against Community College of Rhode Island at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Monroe Community College.
