NCCC splits at Garrett tourney

Niagara County Community College split a pair of games at this past weekend's David K. Martin Showcase hosted by Garrett College. The Thunderwolves are now 2-3 on the season as they prep for a trip to Finger Lakes CC at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Niagara CCC 81, Potomac State 63

Sophomore Donel Cathcart finished with a double-double (20 points, 10 rebounds) as the Thunderwolves built up a 13-point halftime lead on their way to the blowout victory. Freshman Najee Scott had 17 points and eight boards, sophomore Laterrance Reed netted 14 points and freshman Daunte Watson added 11 off the bench.

Garrett 90, Niagara CCC 80

Cathcart again led the way with 20 points and nine boards, but the Thunderwolves could not dig themselves out of a double-digit first-half hole. Scott had 17 points, while Reed finished with 12 points in a physical game that featured nearly 50 fouls.
