Niagara County Community College used a second-half surge to race past visiting Jamestown Community College, 93-76, in Western New York Athletic Conference action Wednesday night, The Thunderwolves, who are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, out-scored the visiting Jayhawks 41-25 after intermission. NCCC improved to 15-7 overall and 4-4 in regional play, while JCC dropped to 6-12, 0-8.
Sophomore guard Donel Cathcart continued his strong play with a near triple-double - 25 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Classmate Laterrance Reed added 24 points, four boards and four assists. Freshman guards Daunte Watson and Najee Scott combined for 23 points in the win. The Thunderwolves shot 50 percent from the field.
Next up for the T-Wolves is another home WNYAC contest against rival Erie Community College. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
