Thunderwolves fall to MCC

Niagara County Community College had a rough start to it's conference slate, dropping a 96-70 Region III contest to visiting Monroe Community College on Wednesday night. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 15 in the preseason NJCAA Div. II poll, fell to 1-1 on the young season.

Some cold NCCC shooting in the early going helped the Tribunes build up a 20-point first-half lead. The Thunderwolves, though, would fight back and cut the deficit to just seven midway through the second half. That's when Majesty Brandon took over, canning five of his game-high six 3-pointers for MCC. He finished with 24 points.

NCCC, meanwhile, was led by Laterrance Reed's 18 points and six assists. Freshman center Chris Luke had a career-high 14 points and Daunte Watson added 12 points off the bench.

Next up for the Thunderwolves, who were out-rebounded 55-33 in the loss, is a road tilt at conference rival Genesee CC. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
