Visiting Niagara County Community College erased a nine-point halftime deficit on its way to a 79-74 upset of conference-leading Monroe Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, who have won 11 of their last 13 games, improved to 14-7 overall and 3-4 in Region III/Western New York Athletic Conference play. MCC, ranked No. 8 in the country in last week's NJCAA Division II poll, dropped to 13-4 and 6-1.
NCCC sophomore guard Donel Cathcart finished with 22 points and seven rebounds, while classmate Laterrance Reed had 18 points, six assists and five boards. Freshman guard Daunte Watson continued his strong play of late, notching 15 points off the bench.
The T-Wolves shot better than 51 percent from the field in the second half, while holding the Tribunes to just 11 field goals on 31 percent shooting.
