Freshman swingman Najee Scott scored a career-high 25 points to lift host Niagara County Community College to an 86-72 upset of No. 9 Monroe Community College in Region III action on Wednesday night. The Thunderwolves improved to 17-8 overall and 6-5 in regional play, while the Tribunes dropped to 18-5, 9-2.
Sophomore point guard Laterrance Reed stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 18 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and four steals. Despite a cold night shooting, sophomore guard Donel Cathcart still netted 14 points. Freshman center Chris Luke, meanwhile, added nine points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in the win.
Next up for NCCC is a trip to Genesee CC. Tip is slated for approximately 3 p.m. Saturday.
