NCCC falls to Kats; earn No. 2 seed in regionals

Niagara County Community College dropped a 78-69 decision to Erie Community College in Western New York Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Burt Flickinger Center in downtown Buffalo. The Kats held a 47-35 edge in rebounding and turned a 10-point first-half deficit into a one-point halftime lead. 

Erie CC (22-3, 8-2), which was ranked No. 10 in the latest NJCAA Div. II polls, will now serve as the host school for this weekend's annual Region III Div. II Tournament. NCCC, meanwhile, fell to 23-7 overall and 7-2 in WNYAC play. It will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and take on the winner of Tuesday's sub-regional between No. 3 Monroe CC and No. 6 Jamestown CC at 1 p.m. Saturday at ECC.

In this past weekend's setback, freshman William Kondrat led the Thunderwolves with 13 points and five rebounds. Sophopmore Fode Camara had 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
