NCCC drops tight contest to Kats

Missed free throws and late turnovers were costly for Niagara County Community College as it dropped a tight 90-83 decision to rival Erie Community College in Western New York Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, who were receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, dropped to 18-5 overall and 2-1 in WNYAC play. ECC, which was ranked No. 10, improved to 17-1, 3-0.

NCCC sophomore Fode Camara finished with a team-high 15 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman William Kondrat added 11 points and six boards and freshman Nigel Scantlebury had 10 points, four rebounds and four assists. The T-Wolves, though, finished 22-of-38 from the charity stripe in defeat.

Next up for NCCC is another key conference tilt against Genesee Community College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday in Batavia.
