NCCC falls in regional final; advances to Districts

Niagara County Community College fell behind by 19 at the half and couldn't recover as it a dropped a 100-73 decision to host Erie Community College in the Region III Division II championship game on Sunday afternoon at the Flickinger Center in downtown Buffalo.

Despite the setback, NCCC (24-8 overall) advances to next weekend's District II/XII Tournament where it will square off with SUNY Sullivan with a spot in the NJCAA Division II Tournament on the line. Tip for that game is set for 3 p.m. Saturday back at the Flick.

In the title game, freshman Nigel Scantlebury led the Thunderwolves with 15 points and four rebounds in defeat. Sophomore Fode Camara had 14 points and four boards, freshman William Kondrat netted 13 points and four caroms and sophomore Sincere Ramsahai added 12 points.

Niagara CCC 74, Jamestown CC 71

Sophomore Daunte Watson had 20 points and five rebounds to lift NCCC to a semifinal win over the Jayhawks. Kondrat added 14 points, seven boards and three steals and sophomore Dytanya Mixson chipped in with 10 points.

* At the conclusion of the event, Watson and Camara were named to the All-Tournament team.
