NCCC knocks off fourth-ranked Kats

Niagara County Community College exploded for 58 second-half points as it knocked off nationally-ranked Erie Community College, 100-80, in Region III action at the Thunderwolvarena on Saturday afternoon. The T-Wolves, ranked No. 15 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 24-5 overall and 8-2 in regional play. The Kats, ranked No. 4, slipped to 21-4, 9-1. 

Sophomore forward David Petit-Homme led NCCC with 27 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in the victory. Classmate Nigel Scantlebury finished with 25 points, six assists and four steals, while sophomore swingman William Kondrat added 20 points and eight rebounds. Second-year point guard Hunter Anderson chipped in with 14 points and seven assists.

The Thunderwolves will be the No. 2 seed for this coming weekend's Region III Div. II Championship. NCCC will face the winner of Tuesday's sub-regional between Genesee Community College and Jamestown Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday at tournament-host and top-seeded Erie Community College.
