Niagara County Community College kicked off the 2019-20 season with a pair of wins at the Goldberg Classic hosted by Columbia-Greene Community College this past weekend. The Thunderwolves, who are receiving votes in the preseason NJCAA Div. II poll, are now 2-0 on the young season. Next up is the three-game NCCC Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 9-11.
Niagara CCC 71, SUNY Orange 63
Tournament MVP William Kondrat had a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds as the Thunderwolves won their season opener. Sophomore Nate Luckman canned four 3-pointers on his way to 16 points off the bench and sophomore Nigel Scantlebury added 15 points, seven assists and three steals.
Niagara CCC 91, Columbia-Greene CC 72
Sophomore Marcellus Cooper had a career-best 20 points and five boards off the bench as the T-Wolves prevailed in the championship game. Scantlebury also netted 20 to go with four boards and three helpers. Classmate David Petit-Homme had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Kondrat stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two bloocks.
