NCCC splits at Philly Classic

Niagara County Community College split a pair of games at this past weekend's Philly Classic hosted by Herkimer College. The Thunderwolves, who were No. 2 in the most recent NJCAA Div. II poll, are now 13-2 overall. Next up is a home game vs. Mohawk Valley Community College at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

No. 10 SUNY Sullivan 79, No. 2 Niagara CCC 78

Despite 23 points and eight rebounds from sophomore point guard Nigel Scantlebury the T-Wolves suffered a last-second setback in a matchup of top-10 teams. Classmate William Kondrat added 16 points, four boards and three blocks, while sophomore David Petit-Homme and freshman Jack Capen each netted 10 in the loss.

No. 2 Niagara CCC 66, Herkimer College 62

It was a balanced effort with Scantlebury, Kondrat, sophomore Marcellus Cooper and freshman Adam Hosseini each netting 10 as NCCC knocked off the host Generals in a nail-biter. Kondrat added 12 rebounds and Scantlebury had five assists.
