NCCC falls in regional semifinals

Niagara County Community College allowed 56 second-half points as it dropped a tight 82-80 decision against Genesee Community College in the Region III Division II semifinals at Erie Community College this past Saturday. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 18 in the final NJCAA Division II poll of the regular season, finish their season with a 24-6 overall record.

Sophomore guard Hunter Anderson led NCCC with 24 points and four rebounds in the setback. Classmate William Kondrat had 19 points, 10 boards and four assists and second-year point guard Nigel Scantlebury finished with nine points, seven assists and six rebounds.

The T-Wolves' 24 wins on the year are the third most during head coach Bill Beilein's 11-year run as head coach. A deep sophomore class finishes its run at the school with a two-year mark of 51-16, including a berth in the 2019 NJCAA Division II Tournament.
