Thunderwolves drop tight one at JCC

Niagara County Community College was seeking its best start in over a decade, but came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 Region III tilt hosted by Western New York Athletic Conference rival Jamestown CC on Wednesday afternoon. NCCC drops to 2-1 both overall and in regional action.

JCC's Christian Fuentes scored the lone goal of the game just over three minutes into the contest. The Thunderwolves were out-shot 33-10 and mustered just six shots that reached the net.

NCCC sophomore goalkeeper Evan Rarick continued his strong play, though, coming up with 21 saves. Head coach Carl Clark also noted that sophomore defender Nick Walker battled through a potentially broken nose.

Next up for the T-Wolves is a Region III showdown with SUNY Broome. Last fall, NCCC upset the Hornets to reach its first-ever regional final. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. Saturday.
