Niagara County Community College ran into a buzzsaw Saturday afternoon, dropping an 8-0 Region III decision to unbeaten SUNY Broome. The host Hornets improved to 5-0, while the Thunderwolves dropped to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in regional play.
SUNY Broome raced out a 5-0 halftime lead and continued to pepper NCCC goalkeeper Josh Westphal with shots throughout. Westphal finished with 15 saves in defeat. NCCC, which had no substitutes available, mustered just five shots on net against a stingy Hornets' defense.
Next up for the T-Wolves is a trip to perennially-strong Tompkins-Cortland CC. Kickoff on the TC3 turf is slated for 3 p.m. Wednesday.
