NCCC thumped by visiting Spartans

Falling behind quickly, Niagara County Community College was soundly beaten, 14-2, by visiting Cayuga Community College in Region III action Saturday afternoon. The Spartans, who improved to 3-1, built up an 8-0 lead in the opening 35 minutes of the contest. NCCC, meanwhile, dropped to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in regional play.

Mikel Abando led a potent Cayuga CC offense, netting six goals on seven shots. The Spartans held a big 30-8 advantage in shots. Freshmen Tyler Van Buren and Josh Horvath scored the only two goals for the Thunderwolves.

The schedule doesn't get much easier for the T-Wolves as they travel to perennial contender Genesee CC on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. on the GCC turf.
