Niagara County Community College was blanked by host Genesee Community College, 21-0, in Region III action Wednesday afternoon. The 21 goals were a school record for the Cougars, who are ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll and improved to 4-2. NCCC dropped to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in regional play.
Hijiri Sano netted five goals for GCC, which had 11 different goal scorers. The Cougars held a 63-2 advantage in shots with 38 of them reaching the net. The NCCC tandem of Robert Siejak and Josh Westphal combined for 17 saves in defeat.
Next up for the Thunderwolves is a trip to rival Erie CC. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Sept. 20 on ECC's South campus.
