NCCC suffers tough setback at Cayuga

Niagara County Community College hung tough for a half, but couldn't keep pace with host Cayuga Community College, dropping a 9-1 Region III contest on Sunday afternoon at Holland Stadium. The Thunderwolves, who fell to 2-2 on the year, trailed just 1-0 at intermission against the perennial powers.

Sophomore Rob Siejak scored his second goal of the year off a cross from freshman David Reiley, who now leads NCCC with a team-best six points. Freshman goalkeeper John Pearson was busy throughout, finishing with 22 saves. The high-octane Spartans held a decided 39-7 edge in shots.

The schedule gets no easier for NCCC as it hosts defending NJCAA Division III National Champion Genesee Community College at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
