Five players earn WNYAC honors

Niagara County Community College had five players recently named to the Western New York Athletic Conference's annual all-star team following a vote by conference coaches.

Sophomore shortstop Kelsi Palistrant was NCCC's lone representative on the first team after finishing with a team-best .440 batting average, 48 hits, 13 doubles, 10 home runs, 41 RBIs and an .835 slugging percentage. It was the second consecutive season Palistrant was named to the first team.

Sophomore pitcher Mariah Howe was a second-team selection for the second year in a row after compiling seven wins, one save, a 4.73 ERA and 68 strikeouts against just 10 walks in 111 innings pitched.

Freshmen Ana Bryer, Victoria Waugaman and Samantha Jurczak were also second-team choices. Bryer hit .377 with 43 hits, 36 runs scored and 30 stolen bases. Waugaman hit .380 with 35 hits and 29 RBIs. She also had three wins and three saves in the circle. Jurczak finished with a .376 batting average, 32 hits and 13 RBIs.

The Thunderwolves made their first postseason appearance since 2013 and earned their highest ever regional seed (No. 6) this past spring.
