Thunderwolves split four games over weekend

Niagara County Community College split four Region III games this weekend, sweeping visiting Jefferson CC and dropping a pair to host Herkimer College. The Thunderwolves are now 7-20 overall and 5-3 in regional play.

Niagara CCC 8, Jefferson 0 (5 inn.)

Freshman Bree Chambers allowed just two hits and struck out five in the complete-game effort. Sophomore Sydney Parker was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and RBI, while classmate Sam Jurczak added two hits and two runs scored. Freshman Alicia Farrell had a two-run double and sophomore Miranda Forti chipped in with a two-run single.

Niagara CCC 13, Jefferson CC 2 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Vicki Waugaman earned the win the circle, but did the most damage at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored. Freshman Nicole Human added two hits and three RBIs, classmate Erica Justinger had a two-run single and scored three times and fellow first-year player Katey Matteson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Sophomore Ana Bryer stole five bases and scored twice.

Herkimer College 9, Niagara CCC 0 (5 inn.)

The Thunderwolves were no-hit by the top team in the country. Chambers tossed four innings and allowed only four earned runs.

Herkimer College 12, Niagara CCC 0 (5 inn.)

NCCC mustered just two hits - singles by Parker and Matteson - in defeat. Waugaman went five innings and gave up just two earned runs.
