Four players pick up WNYAC honors

Niagara County Community College had four players recently named to the annual All-Western New York Athletic Conference team as voted on by opposing coaches.

Freshman shortstop Alisha Scroger was the lone first-team selection after setting new single-season school records for hits (58) and runs scored (51). She also led NCCC in batting average (.443), on-base percentage (.503), slugging percentage (.672), doubles (18) and stolen bases (27) to go along with 21 RBIs from the lead-off spot.

Freshman centerfielder April Chambers was a second-team selection after she notched 55 hits - the second-most in a single season. She was also second on the team in batting average (.420), runs scored (37) and stolen bases (25). Chambers also drove in 21 runs.

Sophomore utility player Nicole Human was named to the second team after she hit .367 with a team-high 39 RBIs from the clean-up spot. She finished with 47 hits, 23 runs scored and struck out a team-low four times in 128 at-bats.

Sophomore first baseman Katey Matteson rounded out the second team as she hit .310 with 38 RBIs and a team-leading four home runs. Matteson ripped 39 hits and scored 30 runs.
