NCCC starts season with Florida trip

Niagara County Community College kicked off its spring season recently with a trip to the Sunshine state. The Thunderwolves had several games rained out, but managed to squeeze in nine contests and garner a pair of victories against a schedule that was littered with scholarship-level opponents. N-Trip is now 2-7 overall as it prepares for a six-game swing through Maryland and West Virginia this coming weekend.

Niagara CCC 8, Aquinas College JV 6

Sophomore Lydia Serrano and the freshman tandem of Sydnie Luckman and Cecelia Waters each had two RBIs in the come-from-behind win. Serrano allowed just three earned runs to get the win in the circle.

Triton College 9, Niagara CCC 4

Freshman Mariah Semple led NCCC with two hits, two runs scored and three stolen bases. 

Kankakee CC 10, Niagara CCC 2

Serrano went 3-for-3 at the plate and freshman Maggiemay Murrins was 2-for-3 with an RBI double.

Madison College 4, Niagara CCC 1

Serrano tossed a complete game and Semple ripped an RBI double.

Spoon River College 10, Niagara CCC 0

Serrano clubbed a double, but N-Trip mustered just three hits.

Waubonsee CC 11, Niagara CCC 7

Murrins and fellow frosh Mackenzie Gozdziak each went 3-for-4. Murrins had three RBIs and Gozdziak scored three times.

Triton College 16, Niagara CCC 1

Gozdziak was 2-for-2 with a double, but NCCC had just three hits.

Iowa Lakes CC 13, Niagara CCC 4

Murrins homered, Waters had two doubles and Semple finished with two hits and two RBIs.

Niagara CCC 9, Missouri Baptist University JV 1

Serrano allowed just four hits and one earned run in a complete-game effort. Murrins hit a two-run home run and Semple had two hits, two runs scored and three stolen bases.
