SUNY Niagara battled with rival Erie Community College before dropping a Region III doubleheader to the host Kats on Thursday. The Thunderwolves are now 0-8 both overall and in regional play. Next up is a trio of home twinbills vs. Hudson Valley Community College (3 p.m. Fri.), Jefferson Community College (1 p.m. Sat.) and Mohawk Valley Community College (1 p.m. Sun.).
Erie CC 15, SUNY Niagara 8
Sophomore Alexis Glemb had three RBIs and two runs scored in a competitive setback. Fellow sophomore Alexis Ridley along with freshman Camryn Smith each had two hits, a double and two RBIs. Freshman Rylee VanNostrand chipped in with two hits and classmate Madison Lederhouse had an RBI double.
Erie CC 21, SUNY Niagara 1 (5 inn.)
Ridley went 2-for-2 with a double and Glemb added a single and the lone run scored for the T-Wolves. Freshman Mary Dunn had a hit, while classmate Morgan Szpilewski stepped in and threw 1.1 innings of relief.
