Niagara County Community College raced out to an 18-6 first-quarter lead en route to a 68-55 Western New York Athletic Conference win against visiting Genesee CC on Wednesday night. The Thunderwolves, who are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, are now 22-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Sophomore point guard Alliyah Gillespie led the way with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists, while classmate Courtney Kaczor added 11 points, five boards and five steals. The T-Wolves recorded 22 steals in the victory.
Next up is a road clash with No. 9 Monroe CC at 1 p.m. Saturday.
