NCCC pulls away from Herkimer

Niagara County Community College out-scored host Herkimer 51-15 in the middle two quarters on its way to an 87-38 non-conference win Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, who are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, improve to 14-1 on the season.

Freshman center Diamond Fedrick finished with a career-high 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead NCCC, which had a season-low five turnovers. Sophomore guard Alliyah Gillespie added 15 points and four steals, while freshman wing Neraelyn Trueheart had 12 points and six boards and sophomore guard Courtney Kaczor netted 13 points.

Next up for the Thunderwolves is a home matchup with No. 10 Monroe CC. Tip-off for the 2016-17 Western New York Athletic Conference opener is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
