NCCC splits weekend trip

Niagara County Community College split a pair of non-conference games this weekend in the Greater New York area. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 18 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, are now 21-3 overall.

Niagara CCC 84, Nassau CC 43

Sophomore guard Alliyah Gillespie had 23 points, 10 steals, six assists and five rebounds in resounding road win. Classmate Taliyah Hopkins added 19 points and five rebounds, while freshman center Diamond Fedrick scored 12 points off the bench.

Monroe College 82, Niagara CCC 69

Hopkins had a career-high 27 points and nine rebounds in the loss to the Div. I Mustangs. Gillespie netted 12 points for the Thunderwolves, who out-scored the hosts in the second and fourth quarters.

Next up for NCCC is a home conference tilt with Genesee CC. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
