Second-half surge leads NCCC to win

Niagara County Community College shook off a sluggish start to earn an 86-76 Region III road victory over Genesee Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves improved to 16-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play, while GCC dropped to 6-20, 1-11.

Sophomore Neraelyn Trueheart led a balanced NCCC attack, finishing with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Freshman Shilah Parker netted 18 points to go with eight boards and seven assists. Sophomore Diamond Fedrick, meanwhile, had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Freshmen Shania Clark and Kendra Lawton split 26 points and 16 rebounds. The T-Wolves held a 49-33 advantage after intermission.

Next up for NCCC is a key road matchup with Jamestown Community College. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
