Niagara County Community College dropped its season opener to a hot-shooting Lakeland Community College squad, 78-71, on Wednesday night. The visiting Lakers, who are now 1-0, canned 10 3-pointers in the non-conference win.
Aryana Jackson led Lakeland CC with 20 points, including six 3-balls. Armani Jackson added 17 points and 16 rebounds in the win.
Sophomore center Diamond Fedrick had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Thunderwolves (0-1). Classmate Neraelyn Trueheart added 15 points and five assists, while freshman guard Shilah Parker netted 15 points in her collegiate debut.
NCCC is next in action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts No. 3 Monroe Community College.
