NCCC battles, but falls to Tribunes

Niagara County Community College gave No. 1-ranked Monroe Community College a battle before bowing, 78-62, in Region III/Western New York Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves fell to 12-8 overall and 4-3 in regional play, while the Tribunes improved to 17-1 and 7-0.

NCCC sophomore center Diamond Fedrick finished with a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman forward Shania Clark had 14 points and five boards off the bench. Freshman guards Shilah Parker and Kendra Lawton, meanwhile, combined for 23 points and 13 rebounds.

Despite being outscored 29-12 in the decisive second quarter, the T-Wolves did force 25 turnovers and held MCC more than 20 points below their 100-point-per-game average in regional play. 

Next up for NCCC is a home date with second-place Jamestown CC. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
