Niagara County Community College's run toward a championship ended after an 89-54 loss to top-ranked Monroe Community College in the title game of the Region III Division II Tournament. It was the third consecutive season NCCC had lost to the Tribunes in the title tilt. The Thunderwolves finished 19-11 overall.
Sophomore center Diamond Fedrick, an all-tournament selection, led NCCC with 14 points and nine rebounds. Classmate Neraelyn Trueheart had 13 points and five boards.
In Saturday's 61-43 semifinal win over second-seeded Jamestown Community College, Trueheart had a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Shilah Parker, another all-tournament pick, had 16 points and 13 rebounds. Fedrick added 12 points and 11 boards.
