Thunderwolves open with two big wins

Niagara County Community College opened the season with a pair of sizable victories in eastern Pennsylvania this past weekend. The Thunderwolves (2-0) are next in action at 5 p.m. Saturday when they host Jackson College as part of the inaugural NCCC Tip-Off Classic.

Niagara CCC 108, Lehigh Carbon CC 40

Sophomore Kenetria Redfern had 25 points, seven rebounds and six steals as the Thunderwolves accumulated 30 assists, 24 steals and shot 55 percent from the field as a unit. NCCC led 59-13 at the half. Freshman Paige Emborsky opened her collegiate career with 21 points, while classmate Molly Mahony had 16 points and eight boards. Sophomore Shilah Parker added 11 points and eight assists. 

Niagara CCC 121, Northampton CC 26

Redfern again led the way with 27 points and six steals as NCCC raced out a 45-4 lead after the opening 10 minutes. As a team, the T-Wolves shot 60 percent from the floor and racked up 33 assists and 26 steals. Emborsky netted 22 points, freshman Aubrey Halloran finished with 14 points and six boards and classmate Kelsey Lachowski had 12 points and six assists.
