Redfern named POY; joined by Parker on first team

Niagara County Community College sophomore Kenetria Redfern was recently named Region III Division II Player of the Year following a vote of the region's coaches. The 5-foot-9 wing led the region with 22.4 points per game. She also averaged 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.9 assists per contest for the Thunderwolves, who are currently 31-0 as they prepare for the NJCAA Division II Tournament on March 19-23 in Harrison, Ark.

Joining Redfern on the first team was classmate Shilah Parker. The sharp shooter canned 84 3-pointers on her way to 15.4 points per game. The 5-foot-5 guard stuffed the stat sheet with 6.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 3.1 steals and 1.2 blocks per night. 

Freshman Paige Emborsky was a second-team choice after averaging 16.4 points per game. She has made a school-record 118 3-pointers this season. Fellow first-year player Aubrey Halloran was a third-team pick after averaging 10.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per night.

NCCC head coach Nate Beutel was named Coach of the Year by his peers for the third time (2013-14, 2015-16 & 2018-19) during his career.
